Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for two new Ambulances

at 2:00p.m.  Wednesday, February 7, 2024

 

 

Middletown, NY – January 24, 2024 - Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services (TOWEMS) is pleased to invite the public to a ribbon cutting ceremony held at 22 Maltese Drive in Middletown, NY, followed by light refreshments. Town of Wallkill Town Supervisor George Serrano is scheduled to assist in the ribbon cutting.

 

The new ambulances will be put into service to provide emergency medical services to the residents of the Town of Wallkill and through mutual aid to the surrounding counties.  The new ambulances will replace ambulances originally put into service in 2016 after being remounted.

 

About Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services: TOWEMS is a 501.c.3 not-for-profit organization that provides 911 response to the Town of Wallkill.  In 2023 TOWEMS received 5,906 calls for service, treating and transporting 3,736 patients to the hospital. TOWEMS also hosts students from 4 EMT and paramedic programs and provides free CME continuing education classes monthly for NY EMTs and paramedics.

August 10, 2021, Town of Wallkill, New York – For decades, Town of Wallkill Volunteer Ambulances Corps has provided high-quality pre-hospital care to the Town of Wallkill and surrounding communities. We are excited to announce that as of August 10, 2021, the organization will be updating its name to Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services to highlight the hard work and dedication of its career EMTs and Paramedics.


Ensuring the sustainability of our high standard of service is critical, the organization will continue to deliver high quality pre-hospital care with both EMTs and Paramedics under the same operation. Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services plans to phase the name change over several months, in a fiscally responsible way, to maintain response times and high quality of pre-hospital care.


The Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services has also brought in new leadership as a part of this change. Alexandria Willshire is now the Executive Director. She is supported by the Board of Directors’ more than century and a half of combined emergency medical service experience.


The Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services will continue to operate as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations will continue to be tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
